Caching can hide work, but it cannot correct every expensive query, third-party delay or cart-specific bottleneck. Effective WooCommerce optimisation starts by identifying which request is slow and why.

Measure different visitor states

A cached product page and a logged-in checkout exercise different parts of the system. Test anonymous browsing, search, cart changes, checkout, account pages and administration separately.

Inspect the application path

Review database queries, object-cache behaviour, session storage, scheduled work, external API calls and plugin hooks. The slowest visible asset may not be the cause of the slow response.

Treat third parties as dependencies

Payment, tax, personalisation and marketing services can add latency or failure risk. Define timeouts and fallbacks, and defer work that should not block checkout.

Optimise commercial journeys

Core Web Vitals matter, but so do add-to-cart reliability, checkout response time and operational performance. Prioritise the paths that protect revenue and customer confidence.
